Over the last few weeks, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) developers and community members have been discussing a pre-consensus method called Avalanche. Now BCH proponents have begun to notice the protocol has been applied to the Bchd full node implementation and the proof of concept officially running on the BCH mainnet.

The Avalanche proof-of-concept is a consensus algorithm that adds Byzantine fault tolerant proofs to a blockchain network so nodes can differentiate between two conflicting transactions.

Avalanche discussions have increased over the last week since the protocol is now running on the main network. Bchd developer Chris Pacia tweeted on Feb. 7.

The programmer also left a link to the protocol’s Github repository which gives developers a gist of the Avalanche pre-consensus specification implemented in the Bchd branch.

The Bchd version of Avalanche Github repository states:

“The following specification] is not intended to be a final spec and is likely not compatible with the implementation being developed by Bitcoin ABC — The primary purpose is to give other developers something tangible to look at, think about, and discuss.

2.ICYMI: Social Dapp Lumeos Launches on the EOS Mainnet

A little over a week ago, Lumeos, a social survey blockchain platform that allows users to post and answer polls for token rewards, announced that it is officially live on the EOS mainnet.

According to the announcement, Lumeos has steadily seen over 20,000 daily transactions since launching and is currently the second-ranked social app on the EOS network, according to data from Dapp.com.

Moving forward, Lumeos is planning to conduct an airdrop of its LUME tokens, which power the app’s internal economy, to “at least 100,000 crypto users.”

Ultimately, the project hopes to put users back in control of their data, giving them the option to monetize the sharing for their information with business and other entities. The first step in the process looks to be the simple survey system, which will eventually gain a predictive market system due to popular demand.

The Lumeos app is now available for download on both Android and iOS.

3.IBM Blockchain Platform now live in Melbourne

The IBM Blockchain Platform is now running on the IBM Cloud in Melbourne, with a second platform to be created in Sydney soon.

IBM has made its blockchain platform available out of the IBM data centre in Melbourne, allowing customers to run their applications on the company’s cloud and abide by data sovereignty requirements.

The platform will also be available via the data centre in Sydney by the end of March, with head of blockchain and consulting practice leader for IBM in Australia and New Zealand Rupert Colchester saying the reason for a second location is largely for availability and redundancy.

“By its very nature, it’s a distributed ledger technology so often ledgers are running in different locations and the demand for two is through clients and customers in this geography wanting to have high availability in the event of downtime and the like,”

The IBM Blockchain Platform is built on top of Hyperledger Fabric, an open source blockchain project from the Linux Foundation.

“Customers who are deploying blockchain applications have reached a maturity of projects that requires the data to be stored in Australia.” he continued. In Australia, the most common use case for blockchain is in the supply chain.

According to Colchester, standing up the platform in Australia is a big investment by IBM, reflecting the potential the company sees.
