1. P2P Bitcoin Exchange Hodl Hodl Launches Lightning Network Support for users
P2P Bitcoin Exchange Hodl Hodl will now provide support for Lightning Network according to an official post on Medium. HodlHodl is a non-custodial peer-to-peer (P2P) trade for bitcoin (BTC).
According to the announcement everyone can buy bitcoins and receive them directly into their Lightning wallet & sell bitcoins directly from their Lightning wallet.
The exchange had tested their lightning network payment technology on a testing network. After fruitful testing of the Lightning Network support, they executed the technology on their mainnet.
The process of transacting using the lightning wallets will not be much different from the usual wallet transactions on Hodl Hodl exchange.
How does it work?
- A contract is created between buyer and seller;
- Seller deposits bitcoins from his Lightning wallet;
- Buyer pays the seller according to the agreed upon payment method;
- Seller releases bitcoins directly to the buyers Lightning wallet.
Lightning Network contracts will not affect regular Bitcoin on-chain multi contracts on Hodl Hodl: those will still be fully non-custodial and won’t have access to your funds.
Step by step instruction
- Go to hodlhodl.com & sign in
- Change the exchange mode to Lightning
- Create an offer or accept an existing one
- Start of contract
They further added that the only difference between using the lightning wallets and common wallers is that the user will need to hold the funds in the lightning wallet for the contracts lifetime. Lightning wallets will not only make the contracts cheaper, simpler and faster, but will also protect both the parties form scams.
The company notes that the implementation will not affect the rest of the platform, and that the regular bitcoin on-chain multisignature contracts used on the platform will still be non-custodial.
